Beachcomber is an ongoing project spurred by a fascination with the art of tape looping. Intrigued by this minimalistic approach towards music making, and embracing both the limitations and imperfections of this process, the purpose is to create expansive yet subdued soundscapes that provide an enveloping backdrop for the listener's surrounding environment. Tape loops are humbling objects; small pieces of physical material that possess self-contained compositions that can evolve into something emotive through the use of repetition. Ultimately, the inspiration is derived from the challenge of filling these limited spaces with immersive acquisitions of sound.

The latest release, entitled "Relics" (2022), is a small but captivating collection of digitized cassette loops recorded in the fall of 2021. After spending the better part of the year writing music that subtly fills the airwaves with hints of colour, "Relics" is a pensive exploration in ambient music; music that isn't a focal point and doesn't command attention, but just simply adds some life into the pockets of silence that we've all come to know so well. Recorded with a 4-track tape recorder, grand piano, and modular synthesizer, the tape loops contain improvised piano passages that slowly reveal themselves as faint, unintentional melodies wrapped in a blur of tape haze and shimmering atmosphere.
